Afterwords is a collaboration with Meech Boakye centering care for degraded land and possibilities for aligning with ‘transplant’ ecologies. ‘Transplant’ is a term we created to think through connections between plant and human bodies beyond colonial categorization.

We collaborated through virtual conversations, collective writing and creating a series of performances, rituals and knowledge sharing events in landfilled riverbanks and abandoned lots in our respective geographies. The collaboration culminated in an installation including; a poetic performance score in a combination of vinyl and foraged buckthorn ink, a poster work with poetry and digital images by Boakye, and a map and invitation to explore transplant ecologies along the Eramosa River including materials for making a seed carrier bag offering for the land.

Afterwords was supported by an Ontario Arts Council Exhibition Assistance Grant.
